At 2:45pm Central Time on Monday, January 29, Consolidated Electrical Distributors sent tED magazine the following statement:

Consolidated Electrical Distributors Inc. (CED), Irving, Texas, has finalized the acquisition of Electrical Engineering and Equipment Company (3E) based in Des Moines, IA. 3E has locations in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota and will continue to be led by 3E’s President, Steve Van Brocklin, as a separate Division within CED.

From the 3E website, Electrical Engineering & Equipment Company was established in 1920. It is a group of related businesses that works together to enhance service to the electrical industry. It serves electrical contractors, industrial plants, commercial entities, institutional facilities, OEMs panel shops, integrators, utilities and government agencies. 3E has more than 400 employees, and specializes in switchgear, lighting and lighting control, automation, OEM and mechanical design.

According to its website, Consolidated Electrical Distributors operates a nationwide network of electrical distributors. The network has more than 500 locations throughout 44 United States. Each location offers a variety of electrical products, including load centers, circuit breakers, safety switches, metering equipment, power outlet panels, panel boards, switchboards, switchgear, transformers, starters, drivers, pushbuttons, relays and timers. Consolidated Electrical Distributors affiliates also offer clients in the residential construction, commercial and industrial construction, industrial facilities and industrial factory automation markets services in the construction of family housing, office buildings, institutional buildings, warehouses, manufacturing facilities and other buildings.

In 2016, Forbes ranked CED as the 95th largest private company.
