Cooper Electric Invests in the Supply Chain of the Future

Sonepar is sharing with tED magazine its commitment to moving into the future with state-of-the-art technologies and automation, which aligns with the National Association of Electrical Distributors’ effort of “Building a Connected Business for the Future.”

The capital investments Sonepar is making across the company to build new CDCs and automate supply chain processes are unparalleled in the industry. Globally, Sonepar is investing more than $1 billion in distribution and transportation networks, state-of-the-art technology, automation and robotics, people, and a global digital platform, the result of which will provide customers with a best-in-class omnichannel experience. The opening of Cooper Electric’s new automated CDC is a good example of Sonepar’s supply chain investment in the U.S. – with more automated facilities opening in the next two years.

“With a mission to build the best supply chain in B2B electrical distribution in the world, Sonepar is committed to investing and providing resources across Sonepar USA to elevate operations and achieve the highest level of customer service,” says Rob Taylor, President of Sonepar North America. “These investments will help us continue to be the distributor of choice for our customers and suppliers.”

The Cooper Electric distribution center in Cranbury, NJ, is now Sonepar USA’s largest automated CDC. Cooper Electric has serviced the electrical construction markets in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania for over 60 years. During that time, Cooper has grown to 1,000 associates across 53 branch locations.

Jill Kaplan, VP Logistics at Cooper Electric, commented, “Many factors contribute to Cooper delivering the highest level of customer service: our reliable network of partners, productive facilities with available inventory, optimized packaging, and flawless and flexible logistics with dedicated and reliable transport, all powered by the highly engaged Cooper team of associates. This CDC will carry the broadest assortment of products and enable the highest levels of agility and customization to ensure customers get what they need – when, where, and how they want it – with ease.”
