Toshiba’s John Bono Honored at Street and Area Lighting Conference

Toshiba International Corporation’s (TIC) LED Lighting Division announced today that Vice President of Public Infrastructure, John Bono, was honored at the Illuminating Engineering Society’s (IES) Street and Area Lighting Conference (SALC) with a Lifetime Service Award.

The SALC Conference, which took place this year from September 8-11 in Phoenix, AZ, helps address the challenges of our nation’s lighting infrastructure. TIC’s LED Lighting Systems Division is a proud supporter of the SALC, and as such, is supporting the Public Infrastructure market with a keen understanding of the rapidly advancing technology within. Toshiba understands that LED lighting systems provide customers with significantly reduced maintenance costs and energy consumption.

The SALC Lifetime Service Award was established in 2002 by the IES Street and Area Lighting Committee. It is not a mandatory award and may or may not be awarded in a given year. It is presented to a committee member for significant contributions to the committee over a continuous period of time.

“I am honored and humbled to receive this award especially when I look at the list of distinguished lighting professionals that have received this award before me,” said Bono. “There has been a dramatic technology revolution in the world of street and area lighting, I have been proud to be part of it, and now I am working with Toshiba to help educate customers on the benefits of solid state lighting technology in Public Infrastructure market”.

Bono was named Vice President, Public Infrastructure for TIC’s LED Lighting Systems Division in mid-2013. Prior to joining Toshiba, he served as Senior Vice President at Lighting Science and was previously Acuity’s Vice President of Utility Sales. He has been leading a consultation business, Easystreet Solutions, LLC, specializing in the Street and Area Lighting community with concentrations in Strategic Planning, Product Portfolio Management, Customer Acquisitions, Global Sales Management and more. Bono was elected Chairman for the IESNA Street and Area Lighting Committee in 2010 and served through 2012 and now continues to support the IES SALC on the Executive Subcommittee.

TIC’s LED Lighting Division has been a member of IES since 2009 and is committed to supporting important contributions to technical, educational and research activities within the lighting industry.
