Turtle & Hughes Board Member Honored With Award

LINDEN, N.J. — Kathryn Swintek, a member of the Turtle & Hughes Board of Directors, has been named the 2020 Private Company Director of the Year by the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). The NACD is an authority on boardroom practices representing more than 21,000 board members.

“Kathryn has been a valued member of our board for ten years,” explains Jayne Millard, Chairman and Co-CEO of the national electrical distributor. “With her extensive background in finance and governance, Kathryn chairs our Audit Committee and is a member of our Compensation Committee and Strategic Planning Committee. Over the years, she has brought expertise in negotiations, as well as innovative ideas to every business area of Turtle — whether it is managing risk, driving efficiencies or evaluating new technology platforms. She is an essential contributor to our success and growth, and most deserving of this recognition. I am honored to have her as a friend and as a board member during these exceptional times.”

Swintek, a resident of New York City, is a business leader with wide-ranging international financial services experience. She is a Managing Partner and Member of the Investment Committee of Golden Seeds Fund 2, and a Managing Partner of Golden Seeds LLC, a leading angel investment firm dedicated to women entrepreneurs.

In the corporate arena, she was a senior executive in investment banking in New York and London at the leading global banking firm BNP Paribas. Prior to this, she worked at BNY Mellon and its predecessor Irving Trust Company: banking officer in the Middle East & Africa Division, Rep for France based in Paris, and Head of the Acquisition Finance Division. A governance expert, Kathryn has served as a Director of corporate and not for profit entities since 1998 and currently serves on the Board of Directors of four private companies.

The annual NACD Directorship 100Ô award, now in its 14th year, is awarded for informed judgment; providing wise thoughtful counsel on a broad range of issues, and performance standards; and a strong history of achievements that reflect high standards for themselves and others.
