Jayne Millard, CEO of Turtle & Hughes, Inc., has received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2012 Award in the distribution, manufacturing and construction category in New Jersey. In winning the New Jersey award, Millard is now eligible for the National Entrepreneur Of The Year 2012 Award, which will be announced in November of this year.
The award is honors entrepreneurs who excel in innovation, financial performance and show a commitment to their business and community.
An independent panel of judges selected Millard as this year’s winner. She was presented with her award at a gala event last month.
“This is a great honor for me and for every employee at Turtle & Hughes, who works hard every day to innovate and bring best practices to our customers,” Millard said.
Millard started her career with Turtle & Hughes in 1991. In 1999, she was named vice president of marketing. She went onto be appointed president of the company in 2007 and CEO in 2010.
Turtle & Hughes is a fourth generation, family-owned business founded in 1923. Millard is the third generation of women to lead the company.
Turtle & Hughes is a $500 million revenue multi-commodity procurement company with 11 branches across the country. The company is ranked among the nation’s top 25 electrical distribution companies.
