Turtle has once again been named a Best Place to Work in New Jersey.
The annual list, sponsored by NJBIZ, recognizes the best employers in the state based on feedback from an employee survey and a comprehensive review of benefits, programs and policies. This process is facilitated by Best Companies Group, which runs over 60 “Best Places to Work” programs worldwide.
This year, Turtle doubled down on its commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone has a voice and they take care of each other. They hired a Chief Human Resources Officer and today, it is over-investing in its people through competitive benefits, flexible work arrangements, and a strong emphasis on training and advancement.
Outside of the Best Places survey, Turtle actively seeks feedback from its employees year-round – it knows that they come up with the best ideas to improve Turtle for themselves and its customers. Turtle’s people drive its culture, and inclusion on this list is a direct, visible measurement of their vital engagement in the company.
As seen in a recent post on the website, here are just some of the reasons why Turtle was named one of the NJBIZ 2023 Best Places to Work:
- Professional Development: At Turtle, everyone is given opportunities to advance at every stage of their career through several in-house training programs, and tuition reimbursement. Turtle also emphasizes internal promotions by posting jobs exclusively to employees for a week before opening to outside hires. Employees use Turtle University, our online training platform, to complete annual compliance and development courses and access a library of supplier trainings.
- Staying Connected: With our employee communication platform Workvivo, we publish our weekly internal newsletter Turtle Talk, employees share social and professional updates, and we recognize team members for work wins and exceptional accomplishments. We also hold monthly Town Hall meetings that include a Q&A with leadership.
- Fun, Fun, Fun: Our teams deserve time to unwind after all their hard work! We host a variety of in-person and virtual contests, charity events and activities throughout the year. We also host events, including picnics, ice cream socials and holiday parties. This year, our 100th Year in Business, we hosted in-person get togethers for employees in all of our regions.
- Helping Hands: We support each other when we’re in need. Through our Helping Hands program, employees contribute $2/paycheck to assist other employees through personal hardships. The program is fully supported by employee donations. In 2022, $4,000 was dispersed to employees in need.
Later this summer, Turtle will receive a thorough insights package detailing the results of its employee survey. The analysis will cover what its employees enjoy most about working at Turtle and what can be better. Like in years past, Turtle will use that feedback to continue to improve its employee programming and shape benefits and policies around what the teams need most.
