2021 Best of the Best Winners: Integrated Promotional Campaign

Recognizing Marketing’s Finest

Judging for tED magazine’s 2021 Best of the Best Marketing Awards Competition took place in late April. Over the course of a week, our four judges weighed the entries submitted for the contest’s 11 categories. Ultimately, 42 entries were determined winners, with two companies—OneSource Distributors and ABB Electrification—taking home the honor of Best of the Best Overall Distributor and Best of the Best Overall Supplier, respectively. Here we present all of this year’s winning submissions, highlighting a different category each week.

Distributor $101M-$400M
Schaedler Yesco Distribution
Smart Enclosure Campaign

After making significant investments in the Schaedler Yesco ModCenter, it became evident that ModCenter service was only one part of the overall message the company wanted to share with its customers and prospects. The campaign was a successful initiative in educating customers during the challenges of virtual selling and included collateral, a 3D mailer/presentation piece, a video, a web landing page, an email template for sales use, and social media posts.

FROM THE JUDGES: “Persuasive and illustrative of the benefits. The campaign says that this is a company that has made a real investment in its customer base.”

Distributor More Than $700M
OneSource Distributors

Safety Solutions Campaign

Work on the Safety Solutions Campaign began in March 2020 when the OneSource team curated a selection of products for COVID-19 safety. Those products were put on promotional pricing and communicated to customers via a multipage electronic brochure and solution flyers for wipes, thermometers, and masks. The team also created a safety services landing page and a banner for the
company home page, sent an email about the solutions to customers, and worked with a supplier partner to host an online training webinar.

FROM THE JUDGES: “Very timely response to a topic that is affecting customers. Good metrics; nicely done.”

Supplier Less Than $250M
Pool and Spa Safety Transformers (PX Series)

In an effort to reinforce the company’s product value proposition while educating customers on the nuanced, yet important, differences in competing safety transformer solutions, the Intermatic team designed a campaign that used visual representation of core features and benefits and an unifying tagline: “Beneath the surface.” The message was conveyed via a mix of sales collateral, digital content, and direct-to-customer marketing (including a video parody of the Transformers film series).

FROM THE JUDGES: “Very original video. Beautiful photography. This is a great example of an integrated campaign. Fresh, creative, and distinct…with good metrics.”

Supplier More Than $250M
Hubbell Wiring Device-Kellems
Emergency Preparedness for Healthcare Solutions

The Hubbell team set out to create a set of comprehensive marketing resources to educate the healthcare market about the importance of planning for emergencies, as well as tips for investing in proper wiring devices built to withstand the rigors of healthcare. The campaign included an Emergency Preparedness for Healthcare guide, a 360° interactive Healthcare Facility eTour, e-learning courses, blogs, a video, and a website landing page.

FROM THE JUDGES: “Informative and targeted to a specific and immediate need. Comprehensive educational materials with examples of specific settings and applications. They really rose to the occasion.”

Supplier More Than $250M
Legrand North America
Post-COVID Electrical Solutions for Commercial Spaces

As the COVID-19 pandemic took hold early in 2020, the Legrand marketing team recognized the importance of pivoting their efforts to address how commercial spaces were changing. The Power to Change campaign spanned multiple marketing efforts, markets, and four major product lines and encompassed a number of tactics and paid advertising, including digital, print, and sales and customer training.

FROM THE JUDGES: “It was clever how they changed focus to meet current—post-COVID-19—needs. It’s a very comprehensive and beautifully designed effort.”
