2023 30 Under 35 Profile: Kat Buzelatto

Kat Buzelatto, 34
Digital Marketing Manager
Schneider Electric

Kat graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and started her professional career as a sustainability and quality analyst at a pulp and paper company in Brazil. “Then life took me on a different path, and I ended up exploring marketing and sales, which I absolutely adore,” she noted. Along the way Kat earned a diploma in Business Marketing and an MBA in Quality Management. “I’ve been fortunate to work with fantastic companies like PPG Industries, Apple, and Bosch,” she said. In December 2021 Kat joined Schneider Electric.

“In my pursuit to find a company that resonated with my values and aspirations, I discovered Schneider Electric listed among Canada’s Top 100 Employers,” said Kat. “The inclusive culture, dedicated people, and authentic concern for both employees and customers greatly appealed to me as a new team member. After two years, I can confidently say that these aspects continue to captivate me. At Schneider Electric, we not only articulate our values, but also embody them in our actions! Joining this company is a decision I consider one of my best yet.”

Currently, in the role of digital marketing manager—e-commerce plug in, Kat is entrusted with the development of electrician channel strategies and animation for the Home and Distribution Business Unit in Canada. “I am honored to have been chosen to participate in the Edison Expert/ Electrifiers Program, which identifies global top talents as domain ‘experts’ within the company, aiming to leverage their digital expertise to impact and promote Schneider Electric’s digital strategy,” she said. “Within this program, I am one of the leaders in a project focused on sustainability for the e-commerce channel. Additionally, I proudly serve as a sustainability ambassador and one of the leaders for WISE (Women in Schneider Electric) in Canada, allowing me to champion positive changes in these important areas.”

Asked to name a significant challenge the industry is currently facing, Kat pointed to the increasing demand for sustainable and energy-efficient solutions. “This includes finding innovative ways to reduce carbon footprint, improve energy management, and integrate renewable energy sources into existing infrastructure,” she explained. “Electrification plays an important role, as a shift to electrical solutions tends to come with a step-change in efficiency in many segments, such as residential and e-mobility. Finding solutions to these challenges requires collaboration, innovation, and a deep understanding of complex systems. I am lucky enough to be part of these transformations by working closely with multifaceted teams in Canada, the United States, and Europe. By connecting the dots internally and leveraging the knowledge we have in our teams, we contribute to Schneider Electric’s innovative solutions and, consequently, to the industry.”

Looking ahead, Kat plans to continue to help Schneider Electric achieve its goals and make a meaningful contribution to the industry. “I’m grateful for the exceptional mentors within the company who hold leadership positions,” she said. “They generously share their best practices and provide guidance based on their invaluable experiences, paving the way for me to develop into a great leader. Their mentorship is key to my personal and professional growth as well as my recognition within the company.”

What would Kat tell someone just entering the industry? “I’d advise them to stay curious and be open to learning,” she said. “The industry is dynamic and constantly evolving, so keeping up with the latest technologies and trends is crucial. Networking and building relationships with peers can also provide valuable insights and opportunities. Lastly, don’t be afraid to think outside the box and bring fresh ideas to the table. Embracing innovation is key to making a meaningful impact in this field.”

As someone who loves learning new things, Kat noted that she has a wide range of hobbies—from practicing yoga and meditation to going on hikes, painting, and dancing. “Recently, I’ve started taking singing classes and learning French,” she said. “I thrive on having a busy schedule, as it motivates me to pursue my goals. However, to stay centered and make clear decisions, I prioritize daily meditation, especially during hectic workdays.”
