On November 6, NAED’s Director of Government Relations, Bud DeFlaviis, participated in an event hosted by The Hill titled “Veterans Voices Summit.”
The event featured lawmakers, veterans, and veteran advocacy groups working to improve the lives of those who have served in uniform. Bud was joined at the event by Schneider Electric and the Niskanen Center.
Lawmakers from Capitol Hill included Congressman Jack Bergman (R-MI), Congressman Mark Takano (D-CA), and Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA).
Congresswoman Houlahan is one of the lead sponsors of HR 4105, the Veterans Energy Transition Act (VET Act).
If passed, the bill would provide manufacturers, distributors, and electrical contractors with a grant of up to $10,000 for recruiting, onboarding, training and certification, and relocation costs for military personnel transitioning from service, veterans, or their spouses.
This is a top workforce development priority for NAED, NEMA, and NECA, along with creating advocacy as one of NAED’s member value propositions.
If your organization has unique veteran hiring programs or success stories, we would love to learn more about them. Your stories and communication with lawmakers can help us advance our push to pass the VET Act. Please contact Bud DeFlaviis at bud@naed.org.
