Blog #1: 2013 AdVenture Conference

This week we are at the Adventure Conference in Chicago to talk marketing, communications, and the use of new media to promote products.

First, the hotel is amazing.  Located right at the corner of Wacker and State Street (across the street from the historic Chicago Theater), we are right in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of a number of restaurants and shopping.  Most of the people who arrived early for the conference did a little of both.
We had a great reception on the balcony of the third floor overlooking the city.  It was great to see people meet each other and already begin to exchange thoughts and ideas about the direction of communications in the industry.
tED magazine people met keynote speaker Watts Wacker, who will be talking later on Monday about the future of business and the economy, and John Parikhal with the Joint Communications Corporation.  Should be a great learning experience for the 192 people who are at the event. Then this afternoon is the first Marketing Vendor Showcase.
Throughout the day, i-pads will be set up next to the registration desk for people to check out all of the entries in the tED magazine “Best of the Best” contest.d
And before I forget, the weather here is unseasonably pleasant.  No high humidity.  Not triple digit temperatures.  Absolutely perfect for being outside. I heard suggestions about moving the entire conference outdoors.
We will be blogging on tedmag.com throughout the day as the events play out.  You can also follow the events on Twitter, under the hashtag NAEDAdVenture13.
