City Electric Supply Opens Newest Illinois Location

ELGIN, Ill. — City Electric Supply (CES) is thrilled to announce the opening of the Elgin location after a seven-month renovation. At 8,600 square feet, this CES location has plenty of room to store materials local customers and manufacturers need.

Located in the center of the I-90 corridor between downtown and residential communities, CES Elgin is easily accessible for customers. Throughout the renovation process, the team prepared the store for opening by replacing the carpet, painting the walls, putting up slatwall, and pallet racking.

“We found a great location that only really needed cosmetic updates. The team wanted the branch to be more modern, and I wanted something bright, inviting, and fun. While building out the warehouse, we were able to acquire pallet racking, shelving for materials, and start getting everything in place to open,” said Branch Manager Thomas Salazar.

Elgin will help CES customers in the northwest suburbs of Chicago to travel within half an hour of any CES location. CES Elgin is half an hour from McHenry, Woodstock, and Montgomery. Elgin closes a gap to Lake Villa and Rockford, which are 45 minutes to an hour away.

“CES has customers that live in different areas than where they work. We will be able to use our double-booking system to ultimately help save customers at least an hour of driving time to jobsites,” said District Manager Steve Zank.

“Customers have been driving into the city, which is about 45 minutes one way, to get their material. Now, they will be able to just drive down the street and come to us,” said Tom. “We already have people contacting us, and they are excited that we are here. It’s a great feeling.”

“Our company does everything from electrical contracting and construction to design and commercial services,” said Rob Marks, Owner of Marks Brothers Electrical Contractors LLC. “Having CES Elgin open to be able to purchase supplies from is going to be a big help, especially around growing communities.”

Tom Salazar and his team are seasoned CES team members. Operations Manager Brian Jordan recently celebrated six years with CES and has worked several positions over the course of his career. Salazar himself has been with CES for eight years, previously the operations manager at the Woodstock location. Counter salesman Gavin Parker has previous contracting experience.

“I started as a driver and worked my way into a management position. CES has been my only form of training, and all my knowledge from this industry comes from them. I’m very fortunate they have invested so much in me,” said Salazar.

“This branch is going to do well, and this team will serve the community of Elgin to the best of their ability. We have a lot of customers that work in this area, and I’m excited for us to be here,” said Zank.
