Eaton’s Cutler gives ideas on how to fix America

Fortune magazine recently ran an article called, “Fixing America: A CEO’s master plan.” Alexander M. “Sandy” Cutler, chairman and CEO of Eaton Corp.—home of the Cutler-Hammer brand—wrote the article on what he would do to “get the U.S. back on its feet.”

Cutler’s main point seems to be: Stop putting party and politics over country and the future, and get serious.

“The guiding principles that made our country great…have been overtaken by mindless policy debates,” Cutler writes in the first paragraph.

In the conclusion of the piece, Cutler writes, “Political ideologies and bickering have marginalized what once made the American economy the marvel of the world: innovation, great infrastructure, and focused education.”

Eaton is a global power management company with 2011 sales of $16 billion. The company has about 73,000 employees and sells to customers in more than 150 countries.
