BROCKTON, Mass. — This past week, Granite City Electric received the Donate Life Employer Recognition Award. This award honors an employer or workplace that went above and beyond in support of an employee during their donation or transplantation experience. Granite City Electric Supply Company is one of five recipients in Massachusetts receiving the 2020 award.
This past August, Pete Riggsby made the lifesaving decision of donating one of his kidneys to his brother-in-law. Riggsby started the process in February of 2019, and was able to have the surgery done in August of that year, after which he had a 4-month long recovery process. Riggsby’s selfless act saved a life, and can be an example to us all. Riggsby decided to elect Granite City for this award because he was able to go through the long process with full support from the company.
Granit City’s senior leadership team wanted to be sure it celebrated Riggsby as an employee and family member for his selfless act, and the company was very proud to support his decision.
