IECRM Hosts ‘Speed Dating’ Workforce Initiative Event

DENVER, Co. — On Thursday evening, June 18th, General Contractors and Contractors gathered at Brooklyn’s at the Pepsi Center’s upstairs loft to enjoy refreshing cocktails and a savory barbeque buffet as they waited for the “dating” to begin. This year’s Special Edition of the GC Forum was a unique spin-off the original speed dating concept and was put to the test in the professional world as a workforce initiative for the construction industry to match up General Contractors with qualified Contractors and construction industry businesses.

The GC Forum is co-hosted annually by Independent Electrical Contractors Rocky Mountain (IECRM) and Hispanic Contractors of Colorado (HCC), and was held at Brooklyn’s at the Pepsi Center in Denver. The event was supported by Allcable as the cocktail hour sponsor and Bauerle and Company as the dinner sponsor.

The General Contractors consisted of:

  1. GE Johnson Construction Company (Greenwood Village, CO)
  2. Haselden Construction (Centennial, CO)
  3. Hensel Phelps Construction Co. (Greeley, CO)
  4. Kiewit (Englewood, CO)
  5. Mortenson Construction (Denver, CO)
  6. PCL Construction (Denver, CO)
  7. Regional Rail Partners (Westminster, CO)
  8. Saunders Construction Inc. (Centennial, CO)
  9. Sky Blue Builders (Centennial, CO)
  10. White Construction Group (Castle Rock, CO)

The event started at 5:00pm. As the guests arrived they casually mingled and relaxed after a full day’s work. At 7:00pm the first group of “speed daters” were called for their first 8-minute session. Each General Contractor had six 8-minute tickets and one 15-minute available for Contractors to reserve online prior to the event. There wasn’t an open table as the Contractors met with the General Contractors. Among the guests were Build Life Construction, Denver Electrical Contractors, ISEC Inc., and Kenny Electric.

“This was a high-energy and impactful event,” exclaimed Kristin Kim Haynes, IECRM’s COO. “Not only did local businesses and subcontractors solidify work on future building projects, the General Contractors developed new partnerships with a plethora of relevant businesses.”
