William J. (Bill) Glavash, of Lafayette, Ind., died January 1, 2013, at age of 64. He was born in Peoria, Ill., to the late Boris J. and Elizabeth Marx Glavash. Bill married Wanda Oberlander in Lafayette on May 28, 1988.
Glavash worked at Caterpillar from 1974 to 1987 as a member of the management team that opened the Cat plant in Lafayette. In 1987, he began working at Kirby Risk Electrical Supply as a purchasing manager and director of purchasing and materials management.
Glavash served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1974 and was an electronic technician on nuclear powered fast attack submarines.
He leaves behind his wife Wanda, son Christopher (Kendall) of Indianapolis; daughter, Emily Glavash of Lafayette; three stepchildren: Kevin Hysong (Amy) of Frankfort; Michael Hysong, Lafayette; Jamie Sliger (Brian) of Lafayette; four grandchildren: Sam Glavash of Indianapolis; Alex, Morgan, and Lauren Sliger of Lafayette; two brothers Keith Glavash (Marylene) of Boston; Dave Glavash (Becky) of Peoria, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was Friday, Jan. 4, and the family planned to hold private services.
