NAED Hosts “Where’s My Stuff?” Update

By Scott Wagner, Director of Industry Transformation, NAED

On June 12, NAED met at the DFW airport hotel with a powerhouse group of leaders from across NAED’s Next Level Now donor community, NECA, NEMA, and NEMRA, and our consulting partners from Bessemer Alliance. The goal? To move this industry-wide collaboration forward toward a smarter, more connected supply chain.

The goal remains to answer the question, “Where’s My Stuff?” as it echoes across our industry. The meeting with nearly two dozen NAED-member companies took another big step toward answering it.

The meeting kicked off with a deep dive into what we’ve learned from 70+ research interviews across the supply chain. Then we walked through the real-world frustrations and opportunities uncovered by those working in the electrical industry every day.

From there, we rolled up our sleeves and reviewed functional requirements designed in response to that feedback. Small group breakouts sparked energetic discussion, imagining new ways to improve information flow while preserving the value each stakeholder brings today. One clear theme emerged: it’s time to shift from manual “pull” methods to real-time, event-driven “push” information sharing. Delivering less noise, and more signal.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed — whether through research interviews, meetings with Banu Ozkaya-Akbay & I, our project kickoff session in December, or yesterday’s gathering. Your insight is shaping what comes next: a comprehensive RFP that defines the solution our industry truly needs.

There’s still work ahead, but this much is clear — together, we’re building something transformative.
