Ronald Reed Passes Away

WCMA sadly announces that Ronald Reed, 65, passed away on June 24th after a brief bout with cancer. He leaves a 40 year legacy including both career positons and leadership positions at industry trade associations.

Reed began his career as Controller for Helix Wire, Leominster, Massachusetts, holding that position between 1982-1989, and also through 1991 after Helix was acquired by NEK Cable. He served briefly as CFO for Pace Wire and Cable until 1993 when he was asked to start a wire and cable facility for Horizon Music, called Horizon Wire. Reed served as General Manager at Horizon until 2011 at which time he took the opportunity to become an owner/partner and President of Lloyd & Bouvier, Clinton, Massachusetts, his most recent position.

40 year For Wire Association Internatonal (WAI), Reed served on various committees, the Board of Directors, and was a Charter member of the New England Chapter. Reed served on WAI’s Executive Committee, then was elected president in 2008. He received WAI’s Donnellan Memorial Award in 2012.

Reed received the Wire & Cable Manufacturer’s Alliance Distinguished Career Awared in 2010. He was elected and served as a WCMA Board Member between 2016-2020.

Reed asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Breshnahan Center in Ashburnham, Massachusetts, and/or the Ashburnham Lions Club.

Calling hours are 6-8 PM, Wednesday June 30th, at the Brandon Funeral Home in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 1st, at 12:00 noon at Brandon Funeral home (casual attire). The full obituary can be found here.
