The Good Stuff, Vol. 48

The Good Stuff, Vol. 48

Welcome to “The Good Stuff”, where we highlight positive news and ways that employees of NAED-member companies go above and beyond to give back to their communities! If you have some “Good Stuff” that you would like to share with tED magazine, find out how below.

In this issue, we’re looking at Turtle & Hughes and its “Holiday Acts of Kindness.”

Thanksgiving is this week and we are focusing on something that is very important to our ESG efforts and to us as individuals — giving back to our communities. This holiday season, we are growing our charitable giving with acts of kindness that we hope will impact many lives today and throughout our 2023 Centennial Year. Here are three giving ideas to get you in the holiday spirit:

1. Giving Thanks for Our Veterans
We are committed to our military throughout the year and our giving takes many different forms.

Holidays for Heroes: Our employees and their families will be writing letters to service men and women to support the American Red Cross’ Holidays for Heroes program. This is our way to thank and recognize members of the military and veterans living in our communities. We are also collecting essential toiletries and food for our military and hosting multiple blood drives in early 2023.

RISE Program: This is in addition to our annual support of the Gary Sinise Foundation. This fall, we expanded our financial giving by providing in-kind donations of lighting control products for specially-adapted smart homes for two very deserving heroes and their families. Built from the ground up with their individual needs in mind, these homes will provide a safe haven to reclaim their independence.

2. Filling Plates and Hearts
Too many families across the country face food insecurity. We are starting the season of giving by fighting hunger in our own communities. We are supporting Feeding America and its mission to ensure equitable access to nutritious food through a generous annual holiday donation to operate its programs, including mobile and drive-thru pantries, as well as senior assistance initiatives. Feeding America stocks over 200 food banks across the country. Last year alone, it provided 6.6 billion meals.

3. Delivering Holiday Joy
We are a long-time supporter of Toys for Tots, which for 75 years has brought holiday joy to over 281 million children across the U.S. The program also provides year-round support to families including a literacy program that distributes books to children. You can help by donating to our electronic donation page – or by delivering a toy from the virtual toy box.

These are just a few of the organizations we are supporting this holiday season. In addition, we are developing a year-long giving program for our Centennial in 2023 with another longtime partner, Make-A-Wish International to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
