Werner Electric named Top Place to Work in Twin Cities

For the third year in a row, the Star Tribune named Werner Electric Supply of Cottage Grove, Minn. to its Top Places to Work in the Twin Cities list.

Werner Electric came in at the second spot in the medium company category.

More than 1,360 companies were invited to participate in the ranking process. The Star Tribune’s list was based on survey responses from more than 71,000 public, private and nonprofit sector employees. The survey based job satisfaction on the categories of direction, conditions, career, execution, managers and pay and benefits.

According to a company news release, Werner Electric employees found value in the sense of empowerment, cooperation and teamwork within the company. “Werner employees felt that their leaders were focused and passionate about the direction of the company earning Werner the On Track Award for Direction.”

The company also touted a profit-sharing plan, minimal health care premium increases and a wellness and safety program as benefits employees enjoy.

Werner Electric was originally Northland Electric. In 2001, the company was purchased by Van Meter Inc. and Werner Wisconsin and became Werner Electric Supply. Since the purchase, Werner Electric has grown from $60 million in sales to $200 million. The company has six locations in Minnesota and one in Wisconsin.
