Get A Grip Business Blast: Gen X Leadership

Hosts Greg Ehrich and Michael Colligan are seeing a lot of turnover when it comes to leadership around their businesses. Many long-time executives are retiring or leaving the industry for something else.

The result is the next generation of leadership, where Generation X is beginning to take on a more essential role. Are they ready? Have we done a poor job of preparing the next generation for leadership positions?

Greg Ehrich, LC is the former President of the National Association of Innovative Lighting Distributors (NAILD) and owner of Premier Lighting, a progressive lighting distributorship.

Michael Colligan is an entrepreneur and inventor. He’s a subject matter expert in commercial and industrial lighting supply, lighting retrofits, and finding recycling streams for hard-to-recycle waste.

Great little podcast guys. I’m an older GenXer born in ’65 and see myself being more of a bridge between the Millennial and Boomer work colleagues. I’ve found that my organization values this skill and has moved me up, fairly quickly, to an executive position. I agree the Boomers have held on long enough. A different take on how Covid has shaken up the workplace as well as the world – I’m reminded of somebody wiser than me saying the GenX kids are the cockroaches of the generations – after the world falls under nuclear snow and roaming, hungry zombies, we will be the only ones equipped to survive. If we’re handling this situation right, thriving in our work should be pretty easy. The Millennials will whine and wither and the Boomers will simply go away.

Hi Ron, thanks for listening. A developing argument. Needs more publicity.
