NAED Creates First Women In Industry Virtual Forum

With travel continuing to be restricted by nearly all NAED member companies, the National Association of Electrical Distributors has announced the upcoming Women In Industry Forum will be a virtual event.

Following the success of the NAED National Virtual Meeting, the Women In Industry Virtual Forum will be a 5-hour event on Thursday, June 25 and feature speakers covering seven topics, from Guidance During an Uncertain Economy to Changing Perceptions to Change Reality. The virtual forum will also honor the 2020 NAED Trailblazer Award winner.

Speakers include Cara Brookins, an author and survivor of an abusive relationship who used YouTube tutorials and a strong will to teach herself how to build a house for herself and her children. Cara will share her story and talk about reaching past your doubts to do extraordinary things.

Also on the agenda is Lauren Siedel-Baker, and economist with ITR Economics. Lauren will provide a five-step course of action to help you get through the COVID-19 crisis. Following a brief break, Ruth Gratzke, a Senior Vice-President with Siemens Smart Infrastructure, will review some of the perceptions and stereotypes that women face in the industry. The day will wrap up with Kathleen Shanahan, Co-CEO of Turtle and Hughes discussing how to feed a culture of transformation, 2019 NAED Trailblazer Award-winner Molly Murphy of Eaton talking about how to manage up and down, and Lura McBride, CEO of Van Meter, Inc. talking about leadership for our future.

The NAED Women In Industry Forum is typically an extremely well-attended event, and the virtual event is expected to draw a large crowd.
